Why do Parents Need to Work Together?
Children of divorces often suffer when parents can’t get along and instead chose to use the child as a bargaining chip, as if the child were a material thing and not a person with feelings and needs. When parents can communicate with each other in a friendly way regarding their children, it makes the divorce process much less complicated. Children can overcome their parents’ divorce much easier if the parents can explain to their children that just because Mom and Dad don’t love each other anymore, it doesn’t mean that they don’t love their children. In fact, parents who truly love their children will try their hardest to keep the custody arrangement civil so that the child can continue to grow with their love and thrive in his or her future life. Parents still need to work together to make decisions, big and small, that are best for the children.
